@harmonairbass true.that ‘lick’ has been patterned in a few songs throught the true rock & roll era.I wanna say there was an earlier use of it,like pre ’65 ( cant remember tune).it was used in a Doors tune too.Light my fire.(?) maybe. i have slept & drank since then.memory fades.

Back in my undergrad days (85 – 89) the local radio station (mix of alternative and classic rock) would play this. DAMN SHAME more radio stations aren’t like that today.

John Mellencamp is to Indiana, and the blue collar Midwest, what Bruce Springsteen is to Jersey. Being an indiana boy myself, this I know… Now forget all about that macho shit, and learn how to play guitar!

Starting 2:03, reminds me of Van Morrison’s “Gloria”, midway through the song and again at the end. You must listen to a lot of great music too. Thumbs up!

All women around the world want a phony rock star
Who plays guitar
You can pump your iron and shine your shoes
And wear your hair just right
You go down out on cruisin’ street
‘Cause you want to score tonight
Ra da ra da ra da
