  2. TheZlasher says:

    wat a fucking genius

  3. LTDGuitars420 says:

    Haha, Marty doesn’t think you should play a scale descending straight down. Maybe Broderick outta take lessons from him. I mean, I like Chris, but does that guy not write some generic sounding solos?

  4. guitarunder1 says:

  5. mowshetung says:

  6. OneLeafClover says:

    ur wack foo

  7. codebabe says:

    @jorange91 i learned the scale a while back. was just wondering what makes it dominant versus a basic phrygian.

  8. robotsforever says:

    @MrHardrod2 I mastered it. I’m currently working on the Poseidon mode.

  9. jorange91 says:

    @codebabe Just play the A minor scale with a flat 2nd and a major 3rd. A Bb C# D E F G A. D harmonic minor starting on A. :3

  10. codebabe says:

    @jorange91 is it the sharped note on the g-string that makes it dominant?

  11. MagnumFIN says:

    kirk hammet made 102 account and disliked this :DD classic joke

  12. WhatTheFork says:

    plugfather . com has some great lessons as well!

  13. cromaticas says:

    @xD2domac2xD lol,kirk hammet doesnt deserve to be in metallica,cant really argue with that.

  14. jorange91 says:

    If it helps at all this is actually a fairly simple scale with a cool sound to it. In this video its simply the D harmonic minor scale (D minor scale with a raised 7th) starting on A, which gives you the Phrygian Dominant scale. Lots of guys use this scale because of its odd sound and fits nicely into a lot of chords. Lamb of God uses this scale and little chromatic twists here and there giving them that badass sound you all well and know if you listen to them. Which you should. LOG FTW.

  15. Blackshayde says:

    Anyone dissing Friedman is a total idiot, this guy solo’s are absolute masterpieces, and his words of advice are worth their weight in gold. I used to not dig his solos much until
    my listening matured a bit. (And after playing guitar for a few years.). The Symphony of Destruction solo is breathtaking.

  16. sevendayslostband says:

    All thoe i love his music saying not to know how to play scales is a bad thing to tell young guitar players. because everything he is playing is part of the 7 modes of a major scale. its really not that hard to understand what your playing and know what its called with alittle bit of study and practice.

  17. kastisok says:

    i think he smoked something before this video

  18. taffysaur says:

    @jorange91 i didn’t.
