Want to Teach Guitar for a living at cheapepiphoneguitars.com

Sounds like a great idea but just how good do you need to be before you feel entitled to charge money for your fretboard knowledge and expertise? Is it better for a teacher to know everything about all modes in all keys or for them to be aware of a bunch of easy guitar songs and progressions that their students would benefit from learning?

If you take a look around there are some fantastic guitar players out there and it can be a little frightening to decide that that you are going to start a guitar teaching business. After all “Who are you to set yourself up as someone that people should seek out for instruction and guidance? What makes you so special?”

The truth is that the best technical and theoretical guitar players do not always make the best guitar teachers. epiphone guitars Teaching guitar to someone else is not about your own playing but about making the student’s playing better and to do that you need something other than just the ability to fly around the neck at warp speed ten whilst reciting out loud the scale spelling for a Db lochrian mode.

]]>

The fact is that GUITAR TEACHING IS ABOUT GUITAR LEARNING, pure and simple. Sucessful education does not depend upon how well the teacher can play but on what the student learns.

Prior to deciding to teach guitar it is important to sit down and spend a little bit of time realistically assessing just where you (and your attitudes, attributes and capabilities) might fit into the bigger picture.

Lose your Ego (Ego will encourage you to claim to be competent in areas that you are not really comfortable and confident in). Equally you should ……..

Disregard your Insecurity and false modesty (which as the other side of the ego coin could end up in a situation where you underestimate your own capabilities and potential). No one will mind if you decide that you are not good enough to be a guitar teacher if you actually are but don’t complain when your neighbouhood fills up with “worse” musicians then you who teach themselves out of a dayjob

Given that you can form a sensible attitude to ego and insecurity and as a result can go on to develop an honest opinion with regard to your own circumstances then it is time to turn your attention to the important task of identifying the types of student that will benefit most from your lessons.

The secret of a healthy guitar teaching business is in being able to attract (and retain?) the right students. To attract those people who would benefit from the things that you can comfortably teach them. The situation genuinely is that simple.

New Video Makes Buying a Guitar Easier This Holiday Season

New Video Makes Buying a Guitar Easier This Holiday Season

Swan Music School

Union City, NJ (PRWEB) November 16, 2010

Learning to play the guitar is hard, but buying one shouldn’t be: Swan Music School, along with Emmy-nominated video journalist Michele Monteleone, is proud to announce its new video guide, aptly titled “How to Buy a Guitar.” The video will be available November 25 for $ 14.99, with a $ 9.99 pre-sale running until then.

The downloadable video will turn musical novices into guitar-savvy consumers by providing an inside peek at how guitars are built. Viewers will be exposed to different guitars on the market, and will learn the real difference between a $ 100 and $ 1000 guitar. They’ll be able to walk confidently into a music store, ask the right questions and choose the best guitar for themselves or for a gift.

“How to Buy a Guitar” doesn’t skimp on the details, either. It shows how the strings and wood type can affect a guitar’s sound, lists the right accessories to purchase and describes proper care and cleaning for the instrument. The video also comes with a supplemental e-book, which gives advice on guitar teachers, practicing and fostering a good relationship with the local music store. Additionally, the e-book includes a first guitar lesson for new players.

Viewers will learn from the best: the video is full of guitar makers, musicians, teachers and technicians, all of whom are passionate about the instrument.

“A guitar isn’t just something you hang on the wall. It isn’t just something you stand in the corner,” says Chris Martin IV, sixth-generation owner of The Martin Guitar Company, the oldest American acoustic guitar manufacturer. “It’s something you hold in your body and make music with.”

The video was created by Shaheed & Laura Shabazz, a husband and wife teaching team and owners of Swan Music School in New York City. For years, they saw students using guitars that just weren’t right for them, so they decided to create a product to help first-time guitar buyers be more informed before spending hundreds, and potentially thousands, of dollars on instruments they would end up hating.

“Many customers believe that the cheapest guitar is sufficient to see if they like playing. While a low-end guitar is better than no guitar, a cheap instrument is often discouraging and detrimental to learning,” says Shaheed. “Not only does it sound like rubber bands on a cardboard box, there can be several structural problems that actually can lead to injuries.”

Stan Jay, owner of the iconic music shop Mandolin Brothers, echoes this sentiment in the video. “It is a given that the better the guitar, the better the guitarist has the capability of becoming,” he says.

Swan Music School is offering additional support and guidance to those who purchase the video. They will enjoy a year’s membership to Swan Music School’s online forum, where they can discuss all things guitar and view additional downloads as they become available.

Guitars lessons

I Want To Do That!

Have you ever been to a rock concert or a country concert – or a concert or performance from most any music genre? Did you wonder what the lead singer would really sound like without that music playing behind him/her? Most people would not be able to pull off an entire performance with no music playing – I would forget the words without music! At some point during that performance, the lead singer probably stepped aside and gave the floor to the band – each musician performing a solo. Drum solos are exciting, sure – but, when that guitar player starts making his/her fingers walk and talk across those strings, there is nothing in the world like it! You and your buddies are standing there thinking, “I wish I could play a guitar like that!” – and, so as easily as you can type the words “guitar lessons”, you can be on your way to learning to play like that!

Online Guitar Lessons

While everyone would probably prefer sitting down with a teacher who has been playing the guitar and learning everything they know, not all of us can afford to do that. With that in mind, we will cover the pros of online guitar lessons. One of the best things about free guitar lessons online is that you choose your schedule – when and how long you can practice. When you take lessons in the real world, you are on someone else’s schedule – and not being able to arrange your schedule to allow lessons on that person’s time may prevent you from being able to learn. But, when you are taking guitar lessons online, you determine when you can practice and for how long at a time – giving you the freedom to keep your schedule as it was before.

One thing to think about if you are taking guitar lessons is the noise – because guitars a musical instrument and do make noise! If you must take your lessons in the evening or late at night – free acoustic guitar lessons may be what you need. Many people begin with the acoustic guitar. There are a couple of reasons for this: beginners can purchase an inexpensive guitar so that if they decide later that playing the guitar is not for them, they have not spent a fortune on an electric guitar and the accessories that go along with it – and the noise level is much lower than when you are using an amplifier with an electric guitar, because the amplifier does just what its name states – amplifies! So, if you are true beginner, you may want to purchase an acoustic guitar and after you see how things are going and decide you are serious about learning to play, you can move up to an electric guitar. No matter how you decide to approach your guitar lessons, there is one thing to keep in mind – Slash was not born playing the guitar like he does, there was a point in time where he, too, had to take guitar lessons, whether do-it-yourself or with a music teacher. So, do not expect to plug in that electric guitar and be transformed into Slash – it just will not happen!

The Guitar – Strung Out

]]>

The guitar is a member of the string family of instruments. Most guitars have six strings, while more complex ones have 12 strings. A guitar is made of a long neck separated by frets (sections marked with metal bars) and a hollow body with a wide hole. The strings extend from the top of the neck, over the hole, to the bottom. Guitars are usually made of wood and metal. The strings are usually made out of nylon or steel. Nylon strings are recommended for beginners because they’re a little easier on the fingers. Frets or sections are marked off on the neck of the guitar to help players identify chords. By pressing your fingers against the strings in different ways, different chords are produced. When you hold a chord while strumming the strings you produce sounds and notes. These sounds are amplified by the hollow body.

The Guitar – Learning To Play

Some schools offer guitar lessons as part of their music program. If you’re interested in learning to play and lessons aren’t available at school, you can also sign-up for private lessons. If this isn’t an option for you, you could also try teaching yourself by using a beginner instructional books or DVDs. In fact, many of the world’s best guitarists learned to play by teaching themselves.

Guitar Lessons Are Expensive

Yeah – if you pay someone to sit down with you and give you one on one attention. But, in a world where “do-it-yourself” has become a way of life; you can learn to play the guitar on your own – without the expense of guitar lessons. Free guitar lessons are right at your fingertips!

If you have never touched a guitar and have no idea where to even begin, there are websites that offer free guitar lessons for beginners. Check out several before you choose one to work with because some people have different ideas about beginner guitar lessons – some assume that the guitar student may know what the notes are and how to read them and others assume that the guitar player is an absolute beginner and will teach you about music as well as how to play your guitar. No matter what learning stage you have reached, you can find free online guitars lessons to suit your needs. If you are an absolute beginner, be sure to find a website that caters to beginners who know nothing, but want to learn everything!

6 Guitar Tips For Practicing Less While Still Getting Good Lessons

If you’re someone who doesn’t have hours to practice guitar on a daily basis, then you should know that getting great guitar lessons can be done in only 20-30 minutes a day. If you want to get better fast, you do need to practice everyday and these lessons should be focused in order to get the results that you want.

It’s better to practice for a short while everyday rather than for hours one time a day. The reason for this is repetition and confidence. You want the guitar in your hands often so that you can learn how to hold it confidently and play the way that you want to play it. This is a great habit to develop and you want to get into the routine of picking up your guitar on a daily basis.

When practicing for a short while with your guitar, here are some things that you can practice on to take up the short amount of time:

1) Do a chord change

Sometimes switching from different chords can be hard to do, but with enough practice you can master it. If you can spend a full 20 minutes going over the switch you will improve your skills and be able to do the switch without even thinking about it.

]]>

2) Work on a particular song

If there is a particular song that you like, then you should try to play and memorize it. This will give you an opportunity to actually play some music all while having fun at the same time. Playing the guitar is supposed to be fun, and this is exactly what this option gives you.

3) Play to a favorite song

If you have a CD or favorite song that you enjoy, play the guitar to this tune. This will allow you to practice your skills all while having fun at the same time. This is great for short sessions and will allow you to improve your skills all at the same time. This also increases confidence and will allow you to get better at holding the guitar in your hand.

4) Practice a lick

You can work a lick in just a short amount of time believe it or not. You should also practice your chord switches also along with this technique. Implementing these two techniques will allow you to develop your skills faster than if you were doing them both individually.

5) Work a scale

You can play a scale about 50 times in 10 minutes if you’re working on it. This will help to increase your playing speed and will allow you to build up your stamina. You will want to metronome when playing since you will a smooth sound – not something that sounds rushed and forced.

6) Have your guitar ready to go

You will want to have your guitar ready to go when doing short sessions. You want to do this because if it’s already set up for you, then you can pick it up and start playing automatically. This is a great habit to develop and to start playing when you have some downtime.

All 6 of these tips will be helpful when practicing your guitar. Start using them today to get the most out of your guitar lessons.

Learn to Play Guitar in One Weekend

Learn to Play Guitar in One Weekend

(PRWEB) November 8, 2004

Author Amy Janota has written a new book detailing techniques that will help beginners learn to play the guitar quickly. “Stripped-Down Guitar” shows you step-by-step how to pick, practice, and play your favorite songs on the guitar, even if you have no musical background. It also teaches you how to play the most common guitar chords, how to read guitar tabs, and where to find the chords for popular songs.

According to Amy, she has “distilled the key elements that add up to guitar success into the ‘stripped-down style’ of learning and playing.” Customers who have bought her book agree. Matt from London writes, “Amy’s great blend of practical information and personal experience makes you realise that you’re not the first person to wonder how you’ll ever coordinate two hands on different tasks.” Another customer Shelley, who is a singer, violinist, and bassist adds, “I’ve always played instruments and sung harmonies, but I thought guitar would take forever to learn. Once I saw how easy it was to learn my favorite songs on guitar, I was even inspired to write new songs of my own.”

In addition to teaching the simple but yet effective techniques she used herself, Amy also aims to keep you focused and motivated. Overcoming frustration is a major step towards success for those who want to learn how to play guitar.

“Stripped-Down Guitar” is an alternative to expensive guitar lessons. Start learning the guitar to express yourself musically and play your favorite songs to impress your friends and family. It’s worth the one-weekend investment.
